As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week the Assistant Chief Constable, ACC Jon Roy visited Alsop High School to speak about community policing and launch a new boxing initiative led by Merseyside Police.

During his visit to Alsop High School ACC Jon Roy met with student leaders and discussed community policing issues. The student leaders discussed everyday issues and were able to speak about how young people would like to see their community re-engage as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic.

ACC Jon Ray and his team were also able to watch the film #TogetherWeCan can discuss ways of strengthening the partnership between Alsop and Merseyside Police.

The visit culminated with the launch of a boxing initiative for Year 10 students. A four-week taster course has been designed by PC Craig Davies, a member of the Community Policing Team at Walton Lane. The boxing course consists of four sessions and workshops which include:

  • County Lines
  • Knife Crime
  • Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Crime
  • Know Your Rights

In my role as Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) in Merseyside Police I am responsible for Local Policing and Criminal Justice matters across Merseyside.

I was appointed ACC in 2019, and am thoroughly enjoying the challenges and demands of the role within a busy metropolitan force.

I joined the force in 1994 on a graduate scheme after studying law at Liverpool John Moore’s University and have taken on various roles and responsibilities throughout my 25 year career.
