Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
“Pupils receive a range of effective careers education, information, advice and guidance.”
“Leaders have established strong links to support pupils with their preparation for further study. Careers guidance is effective. Consequently, the proportion of students moving onto higher education, training or employment has increased”
Ofsted 2019
At Alsop the careers information, advice and guidance given to our pupils is taken very seriously. Good career guidance is critical if young people are to raise their aspirations and capitalise on the opportunities available to them. At Alsop we have a dedicated Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) co-ordinator, Mr Muscatelli, whose role is provide advice and support to students, parents and staff and to ensure that impartial careers advice and guidance is given to all students.
Students
From September 2018, all pupils between years 7 – 13 will receive careers education delivered through form time activities as well as careers education being embedded across the curriculum.
All students will benefit from one on one careers interviews from our specialist Careers Connect advisor, Paul Williams, who is on site 3 days a week. If you would like to arrange an interview with Paul, you can do so through Mr Muscatelli, or through Paul himself in the LRC.
All pupils in year 7-9 have access to ‘ The Connected Portal’ which is an online portal from Careers Connect that has a range of careers resources including job profiles, leaflets on Higher Education and a CV builder.
Pupils in years 10-13 will create accounts on ‘UniFrog’ to help them prepare for their post-16 options.
Throughout the academic year there will be numerous opportunities to get involved in a range of workshops and programmes that we run with a number of external providers including The Princess Trust, Barclays, local Universities and Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs.
At Alsop we recognise the importance of student voice and we regularly assess the impact of our careers programme through feedback from our students.
