National Praise for Alsop “Together We Can”
Alsop High School has received national praise for their #TogetherWeCan initiative. Students attended the prestigious National Crimebeat Awards in London and won the Hugh Burnett Award for the best presentation. They also achieved 3rd place in the National Crimebeat Award for their efforts to promote community cohesion in north Liverpool.
Mrs Nicky Weston, Trustee National Crimebeat writes:
“Well Done to the students of Alsop High School. Their presentation was fantastic and we are delighted they won the Hugh Burnett best presentation award. Alsop should be very proud of these young people.
The Students spoke confidently at this annual event organised by the High Sheriffs’ Association to honour schools and organisations that run successful community-based crime-prevention projects for young people. There was a distinguished audience including Dame Cressida Dick, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and the High Sheriffs of England.
The students won a cash prize for the school which will be used for further community engagement. As a further reward they were transported around London on an open top London bus and experienced a ride on the London Eye. They also enjoyed a West End show and a meal in a top London hotel.
The Alsop #TogetherWeCan entry was endorsed Nigel Stuart Lanceley FCA.DL, former High Sheriff of Merseyside, who praised the effort of these young ambassadors.
“Well done Alsop. The school has a long tradition of social networking and community work. They are well regarded in the City of Liverpool. The initiative and bespoke films send a powerful message of commitment by young people. They are to be congratulated for their work and being catalysts of hope and renewal”
Mr Paul Masher, headteacher, writes:
“We are very proud of these young people. They are passionate about making a difference in both school and community. They spoke eloquently in London and they were singled out for praise by Dame Cressida Dick. It’s a great accolade to speak to such a distinguished audience and we are delighted they won the award for the best presentation.”
